Shadow playing

Earth smiled at the sun
softly spread a velvetty carpet
full of luscious green grass
asked him to come down and play.

Softly told him to rest for a while
for he works without respite
spreading light and life all around
ignoring day, night, months, years..

the sun gently smiled and agreed
said he will send down his rays
to rest for a while on that carpet
and then they will be back home.

His rays came down to rest
half of the sun hid its face
a soft shadow enveloped half world
while the sunbeams played in grass..
